Roomba Vacuum Cleaner – Hands Free Cleaning Made Easy
Rooomba vacuum cleaners are the brain child of a company called iRobot. The company, founded in 1990, is dedicated to designing robots that can navigate through real-world situations, like a house in need of vacuuming. They market robots for everything from searching buildings to cleaning homes. They offer products to consumers, industry, and the military alike.
iRobot has sold over 2 million of their Roomba vacuum cleaners around the world. Additionally, they have sold over 500 of their PackBots that are a tactical robot used mostly in the Middle East by the military. Originally founded by roboticists from MIT, the company continues to make award winning strides in the field of practical robotics.
Roomba Vacuum Cleaner Review
The Roomba Vacuum cleaner robot is different than virtually any other vacuum cleaner on the market. The disk shaped machine uses mine sweeping technology to clean a room continually without human assistance (most of the time). Such new technology, though, does lend itself to a number of pros and cons.
The reviews of the Roomba vacuum cleaner are largely positive for a few reasons. For one, the machine works on its own so there is no user learning curse. The initial operation is easy to do and easily explained when you get your Roomba. Replacement parts are easy to get at retailers online and at physical locations. Also, it allows you to clean other things while it works on your floors, which makes it a serious time saver. Additionally, the unit will efficiently avoid stairs and walls, and it also comes with “virtual walls” that you can use to keep it out of certain areas if you like.
On the con side of things, it does not hold a large amount of dirt since it is not a large machine. This means that you may have to clean it out periodically if doing a large room or someplace that is particularly dirty. It is not as powerful as your regular vacuum, though it is good for maintenance usage. Finally, some consumers complain that the charge does not last as long as they would like (between 30 minutes and an hour), but that largely depends on the size of your room or cleaning area.
All in all, the Roomba gets great marks. It is efficient, easy to use, easy to set up, and a great time saver when it comes time to clean your home. It does have its drawbacks in the form of low power compared to traditional vacuums and a short charge. Overall, though, the score of 8 out of 10 is easy to see. It is difficult to compare the Roomba to anything else on the market, since it is pretty much its own animal.
To get yourself a Roomba or replacement parts, it is recommended that you check the internet for bargain prices. Many retailers are carrying the Roomba, its parts, and even offer repair information.
